Over three days in early May, over 50 community forest practitioners and partners came together for the Northwest Community Forest Coalition's 2024 biennial meeting.
Co-Hosted by the NWCFC, Sustainable Northwest, Wallowa Resources, and Wallowa County, this event was a resounding success.
Throughout the event, conversations were had around:
- How regional and national conservation organizations support local efforts.
- How to effectively implement hunting within the public access efforts of a property.
- How to increase the pace and scape of community forests through innovative financing approaches.
Additional presentations included:
- The ownership and management process of the East Moraine Community Forest in Wallowa County.
- The access and management balance taking place within the Mount Emily Recreation Area in Union County.
- The tribal engagement process throughout the development of the Kalispel Tribe's Indian Creek Community Forest.
- Additional opportunities to support community forests through the Forest Legacy Program, the Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation, the Washington Opportunity Fund.
