Following a strong response to the economic impact survey distributed throughout Wallowa County during August, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the State of Oregon have determined that our area experienced measurable economic impacts from the severe storms and wildfires that occurred between July 15 and August 24, 2026.

As a result, Wallowa County has been included in an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration, opening access to potential financial assistance for eligible local businesses, agricultural operations, and nonprofit organizations.

Small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture businesses, and most private nonprofit organizations that experienced economic losses related to these events may be eligible for assistance.

Physical damage is not required to qualify.

Economic impacts may include:

  • Lost or reduced revenue
  • Business interruption
  • Reduced tourism or customer traffic
  • Smoke-related impacts
  • Supply chain disruptions
  • Other disaster-related economic losses

Economic Injury Disaster Loans may generally be available for up to $2 million, with repayment terms of up to 30 years, depending on the applicant’s financial condition.

Interest Rates

  • Businesses and small agricultural cooperatives: 4.000%
  • Private nonprofit organizations: 3.625%
