Wallowa County Building Code’s mission is to administer a building inspection program that provides professional and quality service and adheres to the purpose of the code:
R101.4 Purpose. The purpose of this code is to establish minimum requirements to provide a reasonable level of safety, health and general welfare through affordability, structural strength, means of egress, stability, sanitation, light and ventilation, energy conservation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the build environment, and to provide a reasonable level of safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
Our building department provides building inspection services and permit issuance of Structural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical permits to the cities of Wallowa, Lostine, Enterprise, Joseph, and surrounding areas of Wallowa County. Permit applications can be submitted in our office located at the Wallowa County Courthouse, emailed online, or through the State of Oregon ePermitting System. All required applications and forms are available online under “Applications & Fee Schedule”. When submitting applications, please make sure to include all required documents (refer to Residential / Commercial Plan Review Submittal Checklist). Permit fees and plan review fees are accessed under Oregon Administrative Rules, Chapter 918. Additional fees adopted by the municipality may apply. Plans Review Fee is required upon submission of plans.

For inspections please call 541-426-5100. Please provide the permit number, address, type of inspection, contact name, phone number, and date you would like the inspection.
All inspections are conducted Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After-hours inspections need to be arranged through the Building Official and may be subject to additional fees.
