Public safety notice advising visitors to stay clear of the center of Wallowa Lake while wildfire response aircraft collect water.

The Wallowa County Sheriff's Office advises residents and visitors that wildfire response aircraft may be collecting water from the center of Wallowa Lake. During these operations, aircraft will make repeated low altitude approaches and high speed water pickups.

For your safety, please:

  • Stay clear of the center of Wallowa Lake while aircraft are operating.
  • Keep a safe distance from aircraft on the water.
  • Be alert for low flying aircraft in the area and follow any instructions from emergency personnel.
