MUSEUM EXPANSION PLANS
The Board of Directors and Friends of the Museum are working with the Pinnacle Architecture firm to increase the space available for research, storage of papers and photographs, and display of large items such as a printing press. The old city firehall next to the museum was purchased and funds are being raised to complete this project. Pictured is the proposed firehall on completion between the Stubborn Mule Restaurant on the left and the original museum building on the right. The windows in the firehall will have rotating displays.
The diagram below shows the museum proper (bottom left) with the firehall at the top left. The street is to the left with the research and storage rooms fronting the street. The back area is to be fenced to allow for exhibits which may be left outside.
The landing will have the elevator, a restroom and a room which has the circuit breakers controlling the electricity to the building.
At this time, the Board and Friends of the Museum are trying to raise $30,000 as matching funds by April 30 to comply with a grant from Meyer Memorial Trust.
